China - Great Wall

In 2005, I undertook the Great Wall of China Challenge to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a UK charity dedicated to research into the cause, cure and treatment of breast cancer.

I was inspired to participate in the trek by the many women I have met over the last 10 years who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I wanted to do something tangible to help. During my fund-raising year, I took the opportunity to promote the work of the Pink Ladies Breast Cancer Support Group. My daughter Naomi kindly donated a very bright pink bear to be my mascot to remind me why I was climbing up and down all these hundreds of steps. China was Barney's inaugural journey. He is now escorting members of the support group on their travels around the world to show that their is life to be lived and adventures to be had after breast cancer.
